Charitable Opportunities

Giftbox in hands. There are many ways you can help the ongoing work of Carrier Clinic. Carrier Clinic welcomes contributions to support programs, services, and capital needs. As a donor, you can tailor your gift to a program or area that is of most interest to you. Please contact the Development office at (908) 281-1495.

Donation

The most common way is to donate to Carrier Clinic using a check. Donations may be annual, pledged over a time, or a one-time gift.

Monthly Giving Program

If you are one of those supporters who contributes faithfully every year or responds to more than one fundraising appeal a year, this is the program for you. The Monthly Giving Program is a cost-effective, time efficient way to give to Carrier Clinic. Instead of making a donation in one lump sum, you can spread your payments out over 12 months. If you would like to take advantage of this program, please call (908) 281-1495.

Tribute Gifts

Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to make a lasting and meaningful contribution “in memory” or “in honor” of friends, family members or other special people.

Corporate Ways to Give
  • Your Company Makes An Annual Gift: By making a generous donation each year to Carrier Clinic, your company will be annually linked to our efforts to improve behavioral health care within our community.
  • Employees Organize A Special Event: By planning a special event, your company and its staff will feel the sense of pride in working together towards our community health goals.
Planned Gifts

Most people would like to be remembered for contributing to the life of their community. It is possible to arrange your financial affairs so that you can take care of the needs of your family as well as make a lasting contribution to Carrier Clinic. Planned giving is a creative approach to charitable giving that offers you significant tax and income benefits and allows you to make a gift to Carrier Clinic.

There are numerous types of planned gifts:

  • willed gifts or bequests
  • securities, stocks, bonds
  • publicly traded shares
  • endowments
  • life insurance policies
  • gift annuities
  • pooled income funds
  • charitable remainder trust
  • residual interest
  • gifts-in-kind and real estate
Potential Benefits…for the Donor
  • significant tax benefits while maintaining financial security for the donor and family
  • long-term income planning for donor or family member
  • impact on capital gains tax
  • pass assets to family at a reduced tax cost
  • reduced taxes for family legacy
  • founding a permanent memorial to a relative, friend, or in one's own name
  • providing an endowment fund that will keep on giving to future generations
  • the ability to make a larger gift to Carrier Clinic than otherwise might be possible
Bequests

Your will provides you with the opportunity to leave a lump sum or percentage of your estate to Carrier Clinic. Naming the Clinic ensures the values and interests that are most dear to you continue to flourish after you are gone. A receipt will be issued to offset estate taxes and taxes arising from capital gains.

Gifts of Property

A donation of property can create a gift of exceptional importance. The current value of the property will qualify as a donation for tax purposes. The proceeds from the sale of the property may be invested in an annuity that will provide you and your family with income for life. You can also donate property through your will.

Annuity

An annuity is a unique way to contribute that allows you to receive income for the rest of your life. You may also be eligible for a sizable tax credit. You many consider transferring stocks or bonds to be used for a designated purpose. You or a family member will still receive the annual interest as well as an immediate receipt based on the value of your gift.

Life Insurance

You can take out a life insurance policy with Carrier Clinic as the beneficiary. You pay a small annual premium, but your eventual gift is significant. Tax receipts are issued for all premiums paid. You can also donate an existing policy that is no longer needed and receive an immediate tax receipt for the current cash value of the policy.

Gifts-in-Kind

Gifts-in-Kind involve the donation of the property, goods or services instead of cash. Carrier Clinic issues receipts for most gifts of goods, but not for services.

Endowment Funds

An endowment fund is an irrevocable donation that provides income in perpetuity and can be restricted to fund a specific purpose. Endowment funds are a permanently restricted net asset, the principal of which is protected and the income from which may be reinvested or spent depending on the donor's wishes. These types of funds may be named in honor of the donor or his/her designation.
