Blake Recovery Center
The Blake Recovery Center (BRC) at Carrier Clinic is a freestanding, New Jersey-licensed
residential alcohol and substance abuse treatment program. BRC opened in 1981 and
has been updated to reflect recent advances in the effective treatment for individuals
suffering from the illness of addiction. The BRC program provides a medically-monitored
detoxification and residential rehabilitation care for individuals suffering from
drug and alcohol dependence which may include psychiatric complications.
The goals of the BRC Detoxification program include:
- to safely achieve a medically-managed withdrawal from dependent substances
- to assess and enhance the Stage of Change Readiness
- To provide an introduction to the recovery process and foster acceptance of further
treatment
The goals of the BRC Residential Rehabilitation program include:
- to initiate or continue abstinence
- to identify and treat emotional/behavioral conditions that may complicate recovery
- to develop specific coping skills for relapse prevention
- to strengthen the recovery environment
- to link to further treatment and support resources
Adult Dual Diagnosis Program
The Dual Diagnosis Program offers short-term critical care intervention to patients
with co-occurring disorders. By using group and individual therapies, in addition
to psychiatric medications, patients and their families are educated about their
illnesses while being provided with referrals for continuing aftercare.
Law Enforcement Professionals Program
The Law Enforcement Professionals Program at Carrier Clinic offers confidential,
specialized treatment and activities that are developed to provide an effective
recovery environment in consideration of the dynamic nature of law enforcement.
Amethyst Program for Nursing Professionals
The Amethyst Program at Carrier Clinic offers nursing professionals and their families
confidential, comprehensive treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, stress, and
other problematic behaviors unique to the nursing professionals.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The Outpatient Addiction Treatment Services of Carrier Clinic is designed to offer
comprehensive addiction treatment to patients and their families when the severity
of addictive disease does not require residential treatment. The approach to treatment
is based on the 12-Step philosophy in combination with an individualized clinical
treatment plan. Each patient receives an individual evaluation and treatment plan
tailored to his/her specific needs. The focus is on understanding the disease concept
of addiction and the need for relapse prevention skills.

Weekend Codependency Program
Carrier Clinic provides a six-session therapeutic educational and guidance program
for family members and friends whose lives are impacted by another’s addiction.
Recovering addicts may also attend the program. Components of the series include
educational lectures, discussion groups (including a parent’s group), informational
videos, and the opportunity to meet with addiction treatment professionals. Participants
have a choice of attending Saturday or Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (registration begins
at 9:30 a.m.), on Carrier Clinic’s Belle Mead campus. No pre-registration is required.
Bright Futures for Kids
The Bright Futures for Kids program serves children ages 4-12 who are affected by
a family member’s addiction. The program is designed to help children express their
feelings while learning coping skills, instilling cooperation, responsibility, maintaining
a drug-free lifestyle, resisting peer pressure, and encouraging positive communication.
Program components include problem solving, decision-making, peer pressure and communication.
This group meets Sundays, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Classroom #3, Atkinson Amphitheatre
at Carrier Clinic.
